The Nal Family
Jewelers by trade, the Nal family carries its lineage through the name of their business. It has roots so deep inside Ul'dah that generations past make claims of aiding to lay the bricks of its foundation. The family saw its greatest successes in the present era under the leadership of the odd Dodomoni Kokomoni, whose masterfully crafted trinkets and gemwork were rumored to be one of the most sought luxuries in Thanalan. The family endured through the Calamity, though faltered in recent times under poor leadership. As of now, the family is back on its feet, though there are rumors that its current head-of-house is in league with some shadier members of society.
Listed below are the critical members of the family, as of now.

Popowomi Lolowomi
The deceased former head-of-house for the once great Nal family. He was a proud man who cared more for representing his status than ensuring the continuity of his legacy. Taking the reigns after the natural death of the eccentric yet exceedingly successful Dodomoni Kokomoni, Popowomi led the family with an iron fist and left little room to be questioned or advised. His most laudable act was settling a century long feud with the wealthy and prestigious Satle family through assertive negotiations and lavish parties, though the alliance would only span his lifetime. While he saw several victories in the markets, his tendency to spend recklessly was a failure noted by his family and business partners alike.
With his sudden and inexplicable death, he left his eldest son with a pile of debt and a legion of collectors. When he is recalled by the Nal family, it is rarely with fondness. |
Kukufeni Yuyufeni
Eldest son of Popowomi Lolowomi and Cecene Cene, Kukufeni was something of a misfit in Ul'dahn high society. His parents did a poor job grooming him for his eventual role, so he spent much of his time studying his family's trade and learning the ways of the world through trial and error. A healthy amount of resentment for his arrogant father guided the young Dunesfolk onto his own path.
Although prone to making mistakes in his inexperience and having an opportunistic morality, he is overall a reasonable man and is adamant about making smart moves rather than reckless ones. Inheritor of the family's debts, Kukufeni reached out with necessity to the Ul'dahn underworld to push Nal's agenda and restore the name his father ruined. |
Ruruli Ruli
Daughter of Popowomi Lolowomi and Cecene Cene, Ruruli is the patient, delicate, refined diplomat of the family. Well educated and poised, she is the family's face to Uldahn society, negotiating legitimate industry and trade and tasked with forging healthy relationships with the various guilds. She makes great efforts to maintain her plausible deniability when it comes to her brother's business tactics. None the less, she is a political force to be reckoned with in her own right.

Popowomi is rumored to have sired several bastards in his reign. While they are unsettling rumors, the man's rampant spending and inability to contain his baser urges lend some truth to the claims.
